About Dr Shaan

Horses have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, spanning over 50 years. I grew up in South Africa with a deep love for animals, always the kid bringing home injured birds, stray dogs, or the occasional snake! That passion eventually led me across countries and careers, from training racehorses to corporate IT, before I finally followed my heart and graduated as a vet in 2018 in New Zealand.

It wasn’t a straight path, but it gave me perspective. I completed two equine internships and then spent time in private equine practice before moving into mixed vet practice in Australia in 2023. Over time, I have found my niche in equine dentistry and biomechanical medicine.

Today, I want to help horses move, feel, and live better using an integrative approach that includes equine dentistry, chiropractic and osteopathy, laser therapy, and acupuncture, plus a commitment to treating every horse like my own.

LOCATIONS

I offer a fully mobile service, making regular runs across South East Queensland, including:

  • Brisbane

  • Gold Coast

  • Sunshine Coast

If you’re outside these areas, feel free to get in touch, travel may be available by arrangement.

GIVING BACK

Volunteering is a deeply important part of my life and veterinary journey. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing my time and skills to the SPCA, Pets in the Park, wildlife rehabilitation programs, and equine rescue organisations.

I’m also passionate about education and supporting the equine community. I’m available to give talks or demonstrations at local clubs and events, and I’m open to sponsorship opportunities that align with my values.

If you’re caring for a rescue horse that may benefit from one of my treatments, or you’d like to collaborate on an event, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
